WELCOME

Welcome to the website of the Friends of Furnivall Gardens. This park on the Hammersmith riverside is a very special place, and the Friends help to look after it. The riverside is animated with rowers and house boats and has spectacular views. at all states of tide and weather, across a sweeping bend of the Thames. We have monthly get togethers to tidy up the park, which are organised on our Facebook page. To support our work, please Join the Friends of Furnivall Gardens. There is no annual subscription, but donations are welcome. For a history of the park, click here: About. To learn about the area, take our online guided Walk along the river from the Riverside Studios to the Elder Press Cafe. And browse our links to 60 nostalgic videos of life along the Thames.

PROJECTS

As well as helping to care for the park, the Friends are pursuing two Projects - improving the planting that screens Furnivall Gardens from the A4, and advocating for the speed limit on the Hammersmith section of the A4 to be reduced from 40 mph to 30 mph. This would have negligible effects on A4 journey times, but will significantly reduce the noise nuisance from the six lane road.

LOCATION

Furnivall Gardens, which lies between the A4 and the Thames, is the green space to the bottom left in the map below. Ravenscourt Park Underground Station (District Line) is top left. There are two neighbouring Hammersmith underground stations, top right and right. The former serves the Circle Line and the Hammersmith & City Line; the latter serves the District and Piccadilly Lines.
